If this post doesn't go here, sorry in advance. I also searched but I hate the serch on here and didn't turn up anything. I'm picking up a BD-ROM drive for my PC and want to rip movies for my HTPC setup. Googling this turns up a crap load of guides, I read thru a couple but there were far too many results for me to read them all, or even most. And even if I read them all I'd have no idea which were golden and which were turds.
Right now my HD for my media is only 500 gigs, so full BD images won't work. I'd like to rip them to either 720 or possible 1080p, depending on the output size. I'm not anal about 100% perfect quality. From the reading I've done it seems 8 gigs for a 2 hour movie is resonable to expect. I do like extras and menus so if I could keep the entire disc intact that would be lovely (if not, whatever lol) I'm NOT looking for a 1 click solution, I'm fine having to run 4-5 different programs that require clicking more than "next" a few times.
what's the best guide for me to read on this? I don't have the BD drive yet, but I want to read up on the process so I can jump into it when my drive arives.
thanks.
