Is there a benefit to buying a blu-ray burner vs a player for my pc. Honestly I don't burn much, but I wonder if I may find a use for it in the future.
Thoughts?

Benefit: burning a huge amount of data to a single disc. A rather expensive disc.

AFAIK, most Blu-ray players burn to DVD.

Burning disks becomes less and less useful as time goes by. Flash memory devices keep getting bigger and better and are way faster. I see less need to burn anything these days. A B/R player is a good option for entertainment.

Unless you have actual blu ray discs that you watch often, or rent and will be using on your pc, it's not worth it. I dont know about you guys but I don't own any blu ray discs but I have hundreds of blu ray movies :)

If you don't need the storage, I would skip it personally.

Easy answer: the benefit is that you get to burn blu-rays. Does that actually matter to 99% of people? Probably not.
