Thanks, ESQ.

The external model is not available online at Frys.com for the same low price. But there is a similar deal that is available online as well as in the stores. As ESQ told us in another message thread, the equivalent internal model is also on sale for $79.99 after $20 mail-in rebate at Fry's stores. I wanted to point out that the internal model is also on sale online at Frys.com for those of your who don't live near a Fry's store. (Item #5479679)

Just to make sure everyone knows, this is a read-only device, not a recorder, so it can't replace your CD/DVD burner. (I've never bought a Blu-Ray Rom drive myself, but I'm thinking about it now.)

The external at Fry's site is $209.99 after rebate.

Fry's Site Link

The link "jiffer" posted is not for this unit but the internal.

Side note: A ROM is a read only (READ ONLY memory).

I didn't find this online but in the local Orange County, CA Fry's ad (one of the better ones because while the LA Times Friday ad version has a 4-6 page ad, OC has an 8 page ad).

Here is a link to the Mercury News Fry's ads (my OC Register ads are for subscribers only):

Mercury News - San Jose - Fry's Ads

Be advised that Mercury News is the only paper that has Tuesday & Thursday ads (ads 7 days a week).

Sorry ESQ, I didn't mean to step on your thread. I'm just trying to help people who don't live near a Fry's store by pointing out a similar deal (which you also told us about in another message thread).

The Fry's stores in the Dallas area also have the external drive on sale for $99.99 after $20 rebate, so it might be nationwide. Here's the link to my local newspaper ad:

You're absolutely right, but I don't expect everyone to know things like that. :)
