before you get all hot and sweaty, i have celeron 2 566 overclocked to 850/1.85v and and I've got a golden orb on it , 120 mm in the front of the case, 80 mm exhaust and 120 mm blowhhole on the side of the case wich blowing straight on the cpu. the problem is the temp is getting too hot, up to 65c and crashing in games after a while. i wanted to know would it better to turn around the blowhole, so it sucked air out instead of in. I've reapplied thermal grease several times too still no different

I'm not really sure about the blowholes and what not, but i have a 566 o/c to 928 and it never gets that hot, at full load i average about 40 (give or take) and i use the golden orb... what kind of hsf do you have on your celeron? BTW, in case you wanted to know, i have a mid tower and 2 80mm intake (one in the front, one in the back... strange i know) and i have a card cooler xt (this really helps, i thought it did nothing w/ the case closed, but it does help) and i have a just cooler bay fan that just sucks out a lot of air...

thanks for the reply. I'm about to go and turn this fan around and give this computer a bit of a clean out. i know the temps should be lower and it worrying me because summers just around the corner in australia and I don't know if it's going to take it

Yes that temperature is very very high. I currently have the celeron 566 too but not overclocked. I plan to as soon as i fix up the case a bit to cool it down. Right now at idle temps, it's running on average 35C. On heavy use, it'll go up to 38 C. I expect it to hit maybe 40 or so after i overclock it. But 60?? That is quite hot especially with a blowhole too.

What kind of heatsink/fan are you using? I am using a global Win FOP 32.

well when not overclocked, the temp is in the low 40's at full cpu use. I'm using a golden orb at the moment, just replacing the genenic on I had on it. i don't know what else to do??? reapiled thermal grease all that, what about this sliver thermal grease stuff, i don't know the name of it is, anyone??

Well, you want to have the same amount of air going out as you do coming in. On my case, I have a 120mm blowhole on the side blowing in and an 80mm fan that blows in. Both are at the bottom of the case. For exhaust, I have 2 80mm fans: one behind the cpu and one above the cpu. My case temp is room temperature always.

Reversing that blowhole is probably a good idea. And maybe you need a better heatsink?

are you sure that you have your thermal grease applied correctly? I had that problem too... or perhaps your golden orb isn't seated correctly. I mean it could be a number of reasons, but i'm almost 100% certain that your celeron shouldn't be that hot, and another thing, are you sure that you require 1.85v for just 850? because i only need 1.85 for 928, i know that every processor is different... but...? And about the "silver thermal stuff" thats called Arctic Silver, and people swear up and down that its gotten them up to 8 deg C less.. i used it, and it definately helps.. but 8c... you can get it at any number of web retailers, i personally like www.2cooltek.com, Ian, the guy who runs it is a good guy..well, hope that helps

ok now another question, i had some people had got some free samples of Arctic Silver as i don't really want to pay 15 bucks for something like that. the gorbs on correctly, so I don't know. now I changed the fan from blowing to sucking it made no different, going to do some more testing but i don't think think it's going to do much.

thats what i was theink spoon as i only have the 80mm fan as exhaust but i can't fit another one in, have a look tomorrow when I not so tired.

thanks guys and good night zzzzzzzzzzzz

i was going to cut two holes on the side of my case for 2 120 mm fans (full tower)
would it be a good idea to have em both sucking out, both blowing in, or one in one out?

Mr. Big:

What kind of vid card are you using? V3's and GF SDR's put out alot of heat and since they're located directly underneath the CPU, and heat rises. . .

One of the cool things to remember about airflow is that if you have a greater airflow exiting the case than you are blowing in, you can actually create a controlled airflow which will literally suck out all of the hot air:

PV(in) < PV(out), P = pressure, V = volume
