2004 camry, the amount of air coming out of my vents is really weak. I have replaced the blower motor (bought at NAPA) and replaced the cabin filter but still the air coming out of the vents is weak. i would equate it to the fan setting to set between low and medium.

the only way i can get the air flow i mention above is to put the a/c setting on recirculate. if the setting is on fresh outside air the air flow is equivinat to being set on low.

what else can i check to fix this. its annoying me.

the A/C cooling works just fine, i keep a thermostat in one of the vents and it sits at 40 degrees.

Possible blockage within the ducting system?

If you can hear the fan speed change at different settings then you know you have cloggage-check for blockage under the hood.
Under the cowl where thr wiper arms are.
If it is just one fan speed look into the resistor.

i can hear it change speed as i change the speed setting.

GOod idea to check under the cowl, ill do that this weekend. i live in eastern colorado so trees are sparce for it to be clogged with fallen leaves.

humm i i dunno, it could be a possibility, the last time it sat for a week was when we went on vacation last year. other than that i drive it everyday.

i have not seen any mouse poop inside the car.

I have seen a guy hook up the fan backwards before-it blows out the cowl full force instead of the vents-after all it is DC.

To elaborate-guy got a fan motor from NAPA and it had no connectors-so he did what ever and it was wired reverse-fan turned backwards.

Possibly the actuator(s) that open and close baffles so as to change from defrost to panel to floor are not working or it could just be something stuck in the baffle.

I'd guess your intake vents are clogged with dead leaves and other crud. Or a rodent's nest. The intake vents are usually somewhere near the base of the windshield.

Look, take apart, clean, put back together.

What kind of non-centrifugal blower was that? I've never seen one on a car.

A centrifugal blower won't blow backwards if the motor is running backwards. It won't work very well, but it won't blow in reverse.

There is a resistor pack that is used to regulate the motor speed based on the setting. Might want to look into that.

when mine went out, other than it lighting the leaves that some how made it into the system on fire thus blowing smoke all up in the passenger compartment, it only had two speeds, off and high. He mentioned he could hear a change in the speed, so I would doubt that.
