The blower in my 2012 Honda CR-V has been intermittently not working. It will work for several weeks, work as I'm turn the car off, not work when I turn the car back on, and keep not working for a few days. There was one time when I a hit a pot hole and the blower came back on, but the other times it has just randomly started working again when I turned the car back on.

I've tried to take it to the dealer twice (I was still under warranty), but haven't been able to get it there before the blower started working again. I'm now out of warranty, so I'd like to fix it myself if possible.

Any idea what I should be looking at? Replace the transistor? Replace the blower?

before replacing it, verify the circuit.

get a test light and unplug the blower.

put the test light across the 2 terminals and try each speed with the key on engine running.

you should have a light on every speed.

if there is no light take your test light and grpound it on an unpainted surface and check for 12 volts with the key on engine running and blower at full speed.

i don't remember if the resistor is on the ground or 12 volt side of the fans circuit.

either way an intermittent fan is usually a bad fan.

next time it does not work give it a whack and see if that brings it back.

Is there anything useful I can test while it's currently working?
