A friend of mine is an engineer for a firm called Rutherford Graphic Products. They make products that reduce ink and paper waste when starting a new print run. The company sends him all over the world to implement their stuff. At dinner last night, while telling stories, he brought out something from China that he said they use BOTH as a kleenex and as toilet paper:

It's not a floor wax or a dessert topping though . . . so I'm not that impressed.

Must be a regional thing. When I was traveling in China along cities from Beijing to Guangzhou, they have both toilet paper and kleenex, and they are used separately.

That box above looks like one of those cheap mass produced tissue box. The tissues are in squares so they might resemble toilet paper, but is actually kleenex and not for use in toilet.

Depends on the scale of the problem. If it's just an occasional sniffle (perhaps because one is upset over a first world problem), premium soft-facial tissue is fine. If it's a bad constant streaming cold where industrial quantities of paper are called for, invariably the rolls of bog paper come out.
