I had a similar experience, but not as dramatic.

I was in some heavy heavy traffic in the left most lane (6 lanes over, including the exit lanes). My left tire suddenly went flat. By the time I merged over all 6 lanes and got off the exit (there was no shoulder), I had gone about 2 miles. My tire looked worse than yours. Luckily I was going slow enough to not damage the wheels.

I then I got to pull over and change my tired in hurricane-like weather. Fun times.

why do you need a full set? unless they are dry rotted, you should be able to just replace 2.

That sucks. Its pretty fucking scarey to do that at 70. My transmission fell apart at 70 in an old truck I used to own. CLUNK SMASH!!.

I'm circuit breaker protected so life can be trippy at times. :hmm:

I'm very interested in what it takes to trip your circuit breaker...and I definitely volunteer to test the system...:p

Moose, glad you're ok. IMO, Cooper is actually a mediocre tire brand. Not great, but not crappy either.
Around here, it's tough to buy a set of tires without them pushing their "road hazard warranty" on you.

I remember that happening on a bus I was on. It was like a very loud POW sound. If anyone is sleeping when that happens they're wide awake after!
