Blow or suck question...;)

I'm using a PAL6035 with the Delta fan. Right now it's sucking air with the shroud. I have 2 80mm exhaust fans near it. One is a blowhole directly above the delta and one is above and to the side. As I said, they are both exhaust fans. Do you think I would get better cpu temps if I removed the shroud, installed the delta to blow, and reverse my exhaust fans to blow cold air in? I know the only way to find out is to try, but I just don't feel like doing the work unless someone here thinks it might make an improvement. Anyone?

edit: I've got the 2 80mm exhaust fans above the cpu and a 120mm and 80mm intake fans at the bottom of the case. I would reverse the fans at the bottom to exhaust. I also have an interior fan that directs air up toward the top of the case. I would reverse that also to blow to the bottom. It goes against thermodynamics, but it should still work.

Maybe, but dont forget alpha heatsinks are made to suck away from the heatsink.
Here's an idea: channel the hot air from the delta to on 80mm fan (duct it basically), then use the other 80mm to pump fresh air into your case.

:D

Well, I just learned a valuable lesson. I am not smarter than the engineers at Alpha.

Well, I ended up ducting my intake fan to blow right at the bottom of the Alpha. I'm just going to have the 80mm above the Alpha exhaust the hotair. One thing that's cool is that my cpu is cooler. I did a better job of applying the arctic silver. Oh well. Thank the gods I didn't kill my cpu. :p

I've experimented with my Alpha PAL6035 and I found out that I get better cooling performance (in any combination [shroud off/on, fan blowing/sucking, etc.]) with the shroud on and the fan sucking. Not sure if that helps at all, though..

another thing to consider is that when you blow against the heatsink, the turbulence might create added noise

not that the delta isn't loud enough already...

how loud is the delta on the alpgha? I heard that since it does not blow over the pins(like a fop38) that it is less noisy? How true is this

I don't think the delta is very loud. But I do have a couple blowholes etc. It didn't make my computer any louder.
