blow hole on side panel of case: blow air in or out???

i already have a rear exhaust fan and I added another blow hole on the side of my case right over the cpu. Is it better to blow air in or out??? Please advise.

Thanks!

probably depending on ur CPU fan, same direction as ur CPU fan, u don't wanna be blowing in air against the CPU fan thats blowing air out... but the best in my opinion is blowing air in, onto the mobo, so that the air around the cpu is fresh and cooler, the idea of cooling the mobo sounds stupid to me... whens the last time a mobo was hot (besides the northbridge which should have its own cooling anyways...)?
though it may help throw off the temps of ur mobo, it does help somewhat... hope this helps... same direction as CPU fan, u don't wanna create a vacuum effect or have air flows against each other...

m8ulook et al,
For max cooling effect on the cpu, consider a duct from the fan on the side panel to the hs/fan. This assures the hs sees coolest room air, not mixed with warmer case air.

Build duct from plastic or cardboard sheet, like cutting paper dolls/patterns..tape sections together...whatever, it's not a big deal to make one...trial and error with scissors at worst.

If you think case fan flow would be lowered by smaller opening at hs/fan, then cut a few small holes in duct, you get the idea. You might even install a "branch duct" to another hot component like an oc'd video card or chipset.

Use your imagination, ducting cool room air is not a new idea, it's been around for years. Even Intel designed a "Low Profile Cooling Duct" several years ago.

hmmm interesting johncar, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Do you have any suggestions for making a clean duct for and A7V motherboard? I already have a blowhole so it shouldn't be too difficult. Thanks for the suggestion.

I used a fan duct from my CPU (on my single cpu box) to the rear fan which was blowing out.

Then, I have two 80 mm fans blowing out over the cards.

🙂
I have a 120 in the front bottom pulling cool air in.
