Ever tried one?

I picked a couple up yesterday.

It is the most vile, disgusting citrus fruit I have ever eaten.

It's sweet.. for the first 5 seconds it's in your mouth. Literally. Then this god-aweful, unexplainable aftertaste hits your palette. OMFG. Seriously. It's really weird. It reminds me of the aftertaste grapefruit leaves, only 100x more vile.

Definately try at your own risk....
 
I've never tried one and probably won't now. Thanks for the tip. I'll stick with navel oranges, tangelos, and grapefruit.

I also got some tangelos.

Not a big fan. They have a weird taste going on too, although not nearly as wacked out as the blood orange.

I've never liked grapefruit.... something about those citrus fruit aftertastes really grate on my tongue. I like all other "normal" oranges.. tangerines..

Dunno. Everyones tastebuds are different, so definately trye them, especially if you're a fan of citrus fruit. Obviously some people like them.. But not me.. Or anyone else in the house! :Q

We all thought maybe it was rotten.. lol
 
you mustve had bad ones. my neighbor across the street has a tree, and theyre the best citrus fruit ive ever tasted. like oranges, only so much more intense.
 
Blood oranges are awesome. You must have gotten a bad one. I buy mine from Whole Foods. I will say, if you get a bad one, i.e. sour, it's pretty bad.

That's certainly a possibility.

I have another. If it tastes the same as the 1st, I think I'll give up. The one we ate wasn't quite 100% ripe, maybe that had something to do with it? It was close though, maybe 90%.

Dunno... I wish I could explain the aftertaste.. I've never tasted anything like it, but it wasn't a good taste...... lol

It wasn't sour.. quite sweet, actually.. You bite into it, start tasting the sweet juices.. then literally, 5 seconds or so after you bite into that thing.. this utterly foul taste hits your mouth...

Do you know what I'm talking about? Maybe it's not foul to some people... obviously. Either that or it isn't having the same effect on your tongue, or something.
