What is the most reliable/popular blogging software that people use to update their site with news, etc?

I'm not looking for a Xanga like site that lets you blog but rather a news updater/blog script to upload and use on my site.
 
Movable Type.

*But, according to my spell checker, "moveable" is also a valid spelling of the word, if not the software.
