I think we have heard this before.

A leftist is determined to right the wrongs of the world. So he creates up an elaborate hoax and tries to fool the world with it. And when caught they always claim that while their story may have been false the details they used were true. Sad.

Interesting story, pretty despicable thing to do IMO.

However, ProfJohn, you are a WACKJOB for trying to make this something about his political views or him being a "leftist".

Please explain how slamming all leftists based on one blogger and posting nonstop lies and distortions makes ProJo an authority on integrity?

It doesn't, but it does make him an authority on partisan hackery. He's a total clown.

Color me shocked, the blog is a complete fake. I don't know anything about the guy who wrote the blog and if he's a "leftist", but he certainly fits the mold of the naive college student who thinks they have all the answers to life who decides that "the truth" needs to be told, even if one needs to make up a lie to do it.

Do you have any proof at all of his political affiliations?

And when you asked if this has been seen before, are you asking whether or not anyone has ever created a fictional story to support their political viewpoints? Like paying people to make up stories on a politically slanted radio show?

Americans are hilarious. You're so entrenched in your party that you fail to see that they are both the same. They have slightly different means, but they're both after the same things and this 'us vs them' mentality you follow just enables them to get there faster.

Let's see. A forty year old man, still in college, in a foreign country no less, self-described "Middle East peace activist", pretending to be an American-born Muslim lesbian to raise awareness of the "plight of people in Syria, where homosexuality is illegal." Yup, obviously a Republican social conservative. Dumb asses.

From his own words:
“I really felt a number of years ago that in discussions on Middle East issues while living in the US, when I presented real facts and opinions, the immediate reaction to somebody with my name was ‘why are you anti-American, why are you anti-Jewish?’

Nobody (well, except Dave) thinks rightwingers are anti-American; they think we are unreasonably American.

His blog:

Note his links - all gay, anti-Israel, and/or "lefto-feminist". Read his posts, making fun of Glenn Beck, saying he wants to make him cry some more. Read his diatribes against America, sandwiched in between his gay lesbian porn.

This guy is not just a leftist, he's a freakin' caricature of a leftist. The only thing in question is at what point he comes out of the closet.

Folks using the word "leftist" or "liberal" as an argument in and of itself are guilty of the worst intellectual lazyness.

Sometimes people do very stupid misguided crap with good intentions, whether it be perpetrating a disinformation hoax or assassinating King Henri III of France, and it happens both on the left and right sides of the political arena. Hopefully no one will be hurt as a result of this by confronting the Syrian government.

Looks like the blogger simply took a page from your playbook.

More a page from "those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it". What I did 11 years ago isn't common knowledge in the real world. It's the stuff of Internet trivia. The cheminement (progression/journey) though is similar but much longer and far-reaching in his case. He started the blog in 2006.
