1) I want to have it on my .com site (i guess they all do this)
2) I want to have both of my 1" margins for links, seperate from the blog itself
3) I want to be able to add articles by emailing myself

Any help 🙂

wordpress

not sure what you mean by the margins, but if you mean what i think you mean, it can be done with some simple css

wordpress is really easy to modify and design
also easy to install (especially if via fantastico)

i have several clients that run it on my server, all are very happy with it

Half of the blog software engines out there are open source, you can edit it to get the features you want.

The e-mail features seems like a bad idea, unless you want a dozen articles a day on the latest male performance enhacing products, the girls that enjoy these products, and the stocks to buy when you're all pumped up on the blue stuff.

I'm sure most of the blog softwares will do this. I know wordpress has the mail-in stuff, and as others mention you should be able to use CSS to make a theme like you want.

Check out http://www.opensourcecms.com/ -- under the Blogs section (tree-menu on the left) you can look at various OSS blog softwares and see if anything catches your eye.
