My roomate keeps using bittorrent and causes router stability problems. He wont listen to me after telling him to stop using it. I figured by blocking the ports that bittorrent uses(6881-6999 I believe). I looked through the setup menus and don't understand how to block ports. How do I block ports in the Linksys setup? thanks!

It really depends on your firmware. I would read the manual:)

For BT, btw, for when you figure it out, block port 40000-65535 for both TCP and UDP.

You could also forward those ports to a non-existant ip on your network. I'm not sure that would work, but would probably hose his BT client.

Some BT clients can allow the user to pick any port. It might be a hard one to track down.

Not sure if this would apply to you, with some older wrt54g routers you can install DD-WRT firmware and add features like QOS. That should slow him down a lot and make sure you still have some bandwidth to go smoothly.

QoS on a WRT54G can be a little shaky, especially with lots of connections. I think that WackyDan's suggestion is probably best as it would impact the WRT54G the least.
