Blocking Internet Access to an XP SP3 Machine

I have an old Compaq Deskpro PIII 600E MHZ and I installed XP SP3 on it (I use the computer for hardware & Software that will not work on Windows 7) However I want to have network access (To transfer files from my other computers) But I don't want the computer to have internet access as I don't want to install all of the updates or install an anti virus suite. The computer has a Intel 10/100 PCI Network card W/WOL.
I have a router a Netgear WNR3500 V1
Is it possible to have network access without access to the internet on a consumer level router and if so how?

Give the PC a static IP and don't set a default gateway.

When you give a computer a static IP address, you enter in a series of numbers in the TCP/IP properties of your computer's network adapter.

See the field for the Default Gateway? Don't put anything there.

Just leave the Default Gateway empty.
