since installing a new router, my computer, when booted up, takes about 10 minutes to establish an internet connection. the machine gets an IP address from the router but it cant actually send or recieve any packets. pings to other machines on the network dont work. i cant access the router setup page. then, magically, about 10 minutes later, the connection is up and everything is fine! no further problems.
steps ive taken:
uninstalled zone alarm (twice)
full virus/spyware scan
ran winsockfix utility which apparently reset basically everything having to do with windows networking stuff
killed every non-critical process and service when starting up
tried a different port on the router
everything works fine with old router
again, i get an ip w/ dhcp, its just that something is blocking me. what could it be??? the router is a d-link wireless. nothing in the setup page looks wrong. all the other computers on the network work fine.
