I go to blockbuster on friday night around 7 to rent a movie. Around 10 I started to watch the movie. half way through the dvd starts skipping. I have to go back to blockbuster and exchange it for a new one (around 11:30pm).

Today, (Sunday) I go back and return the movie. It was a 2 day rental and they charged me a late fee b/c it was do back by 12 noon, not 12 midnight.

Its been a while since I rented movies from them but wasn't it always 12 midnight?

Anyway, I tell the guy behind the counter that I rented it late night friday and had to go back and all that. I mentioned that a 2 day rental should be longer then a day and a half. When I said that I heard a smart @ss remark from another guy behind the counter.

Anyway, I was obviously wrong. On the back it clearly says 12 noon. I saw 12 and just assumed, my fault. But the manager, the one who made the remark, was being an idiot so I just gave them the money and closed my account which I have had for 10 years.

It just made me so angry. I felt like they were ripping me off. The late fee was the same as the movie rental fee (~5 bucks).

Think I overreacted? I am just going to rent movies over digital cable from now on.

grrrr.

Honestly? Take 5 minutes and write a letter to blockbuster complaints. Anytime friends ever complain they tell me the company sends them tons of freebie coupons and junk.

I know a guy who grabs the "how do you like us" cards at every restaurant and fills them in horribly then a few weeks later he gets free crap :p

Blockbuster has a shstty collection of movies... I can't find anything *I* want to watch. And video games are lacking seriously, which is why I haven't played anything but GT3 and Kingdom Hearts in the last year or so. I guess it could just be that game market sucks period... the xbox has so much potential yet no one at all makes any good games for it... I guess Sonic is the coolest thing I have yet to buy; I really should get around to buying that... I love teh sonic g4mez...

Good idea. I guess they are competing with net flix and all those other places by ripping their customers off.

Blockbuster started sending me threatening letters over an $11 late fee. (I returned some movies that I knew were late in the drop box after they had closed and had planned to pay the fee the next time I rented a movie.) I went in, and they said the small pile of letters was sent to me because when they tried to charge my credit card for the late fee, it was declined. (Maybe that was because the only credit card number they have on me was attached to my closed Hells-Fukno checking account.) I paid the late fee in cash, and I'm doubly certain to pay cash only for my rentals at Blockbuster now. They don't have my credit card number, and they're not getting it.

I would definetly complain. The only time I have had lame ass(not the last though probably :x ) I ordered a pizza from Papa Johns for delivery even though I was 2 blocks away(I was at work). All in all it took them 2 hours for the delivery guy to arrive and me to deny him. Sent what was on my mind to their customer complaints about the slow ass delivery plus the rude employee that was "helping me". All in all I got free pizza, a call from their regional manager as well as every pizza I've ordered since in record time ;)

Yeah blockbuster sucks. Isn't it kinda false advertising when they say 2 day rental and you have like only 1,5 days of rental time when you rent the movie right before they close on midnight? Fvckin annoying. That's why I switched to Netflix. Over 700 DVDs so far, and no problems.

"Not to mention it came with extra creamy garlic sauce already on the pizza and I didn't have to pay for an extra topping" ;)

Your local BB just sucks then.....there's literally about 8 Blockbusters within 5-10 minutes from me. Probably 5 of them have crap selection, 2 have a great selection, and 2 literally has every XBox game for rent ever made.

I would've flipped off the manager in addition. Let him get himself in trouble with the higher ups...

I thought it's always midnight also.

umm... you should have just returned the movie and never come back. Hence you wouldn't have had to pay the late fee.

btw, yes you over reacted to their policy. However, you didn't over react to the rude manager.

You might be confusing the midnight return policy with Hollywood Video. As far as I can remember, Blockbuster has always had that silly noon return policy.

I'll agree with you though - Blockbuster is lame.

How'd you know? All my info is different from that of the one at work so I doubt they knew it who it was except for the fact they had problems with deliveries. If I had extra creamy garlic sauce I would barf :x

blockbuster here has always had the 12-midnight policy unless it has changed very recently. I'm in montreal, canada.

It was midnight a long time ago. They changed it a year or two ago.

Blockbuster started sending me threatening letters over an $11 late fee

They were going to take me to court over a $20 late fee. They had a date setup.
