This is very hot! I hit the 2 Blockbusters by my house and ended up with 9 movies for under $100. The Blockbuster by me had crossed off the "select" and made all of their pre-viewed DVDs on sale. Theres not too much left now, but still a very hot deal. (found a nice selection at the one in Buffalo Grove IL at Lake Cook and 83)

Different Blockbusters have different selections, so it's good to check out a few of them. The prices may also be different. Anyway, to make this deal even better, Blockbuster is currently giving away a $5 gift card with a purchase of $50 in gift cards. This deal goes through 12/16. So buy the gift cards first, and then use them to purchase your previewed titles.

BB has very limited selection on DVDs, is this deal work on VHS too?

I picked up 7 VHS when they have the $2 off, got most of their list $4.99-$2=$2.99 Better than renting. But that caused me to get a VCR.....which costed $50. :(

If you want the scoop on dvd's just go and check out DVD Talk Forums. More than enough information there and they keep you up to date on all the deals.

Good deal, but, keep in mind:

The pre-viewed prices are about the same price as new movies elsewhere.
Some of the pre-viewed movies have blockbuster "protective" labels on them nowadays.
That, and you can't get widescreen of some movies, like mummy returns.

All the above is my experience with BB stores near me. Your mileage may vary.

As the resident Blockbuster authority, let me offer that this currently applies to any previously viewed product, but does NOT include games. Remember that previously viewed product is guaranteed for 30 days from date of purchase toward replacement product, but you need your receipt and you must go to the store you purchased the films at.

There are some great values out there... this is the time to take the more expensive titles. Remember, the computer will subtract the price of the lowest priced item, so getting three at the same price point is the way to go. You can also mix and match DVD and VHS product.

Happy holidays!

Hey Burnitdown....did you hit any others in that area? I am in Palatine and was wondering what the selection was like at the other blockbuster stores.

I agree dman6666.
Unbreakable and Castaway were $16.99 used at my local Blockbuster. Sheesh! WalMart had them new for $16.44.

"Depends on the stores" is the single most important bit of information in this thread.

I was amazed to hear that Vision's BB had PVD's of hannibal, family man, shrek, unbreakable, and mummy returns for around $9. They range for between $12.99 to $14.99 at my BB.

Then again Bygdaddy tells us that Unbreakable and Castaway were $16.99 at his BB.

My personal guess is that Vision's is going to a company-owned store, and Bygdaddy is getting the well-known (around here, anyway) "Blockbuster Franchise Shaft".

The franchise stores are privately owned and are under no obligation to honor ANY BB "corporate" promotions. And they can't wait to tell you that. They set their own PVD prices and are usually a complete waste of time. I have a franchise BB five minutes from my house, but I do business with a company store about 30 minutes away.

The good news is (at least for me) that the store I deal with always puts the most liberal possible interpretation on any promo. When they have $2.00 off PVT "videos", they also honor it for PVDs. The franchises always say, "This is a DVD, not a video. No discount."

For this particular sale, they're doing Buy 2 Get 1 Free on ALL DVD's, new, used, mix-and-match, whatever. I have bought at least 25 titles since this started. And like Steelwells said, buying them in threes at the same price point maximizes your savings. This is a really incredible sale, I haven't gotten DVD bargains like this since Half.com had the $7.99 Netflix discs, and I only snagged two of those.

If you guys check out the forums on DVDtalk.com they have a whole dissertation on this sale. Ive gotten my fair share of pre viewed dvd's from blockbuster. Ive never had a disk that wasnt in great shape. A friend of mine got one with some marker on it, wiped it down with some alcohol and dvd worked great.

Yes, some of the prices are a joke, but if your interested in the title, at least ask to have it scanned. BB is notorious for not updating sticker pricing as the price does go down depending how long the title has been on the shelf. Also, keep an eye out for blockbuster pan and scan garbage, make sure you get a nice widescreen edition. Selection and pricing varies greatly store to store.

Anyway, i just recently scored, shrek, tombraider, and hannibal (all widescreen) for $33 out the door, with tax. The dvds were pristine, in their original packaging, double disks in shrek and hannibal.

Great big THANK YOU to kermalou!!!!!!!!!!

Picked up 6 DVDs for $52 all told.

In my store, if you buy $50 in GCs you get $5 more free???? So, I bought $50 of GCs, then used them to buy my DVDs... :)
