Blockbuster Online: Service AFTER the free trial

So the last week of December I decided to do a month free trial of Blockbuster online, since they have HD-DVD and Blu-Ray available. For that month, the service was awesome. I'd get an email saying my movie shipped, and I'd have it the next day. I'd return it, the next day they'd say they received it AND shipped the next one, and on the third business day I'd have my next disc. So I decided to keep the service.

Boy, was I duped.

So far, in the 3 weeks I've had it since I've actually been paying, I've only received 3 DVDs. The last of my "free" DVDs happened to arrive at Blockbuster just as the trial ended. The next one didn't ship for 2 entire days, and it took another 3 to arrive at my house. Now, it's the same. I sent one back on Monday, got an email that they received it on Wednesday, and just today got my ship notification for the next one in the queue. I guarantee I won't see it until at least Monday, possibly Tuesday. During my trial, I rented I think 11 movies. At this rate, I won't even get 5 done in a month. I'm going to cancel after this month, just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this.

And as far as the ability to return in store and get a DVD, there are no Blockbusters in my town, so that's out.

Netflix works fantastic, 3 day turnaround MAX. They offer HD-DVD and Blu-Ray as well, plus they will have in the future a service that allows you to download and watch the movies on your PC.

Certainly wasn't my experience with them. They turned around faster than NetFlix by a couple of days. I could do 2X weekly with BB, and barely 1 with NF.

I'm not and have never been a subscriber of Netflix or Blockbuster Online. BUT many of my coworkers who have been using Netflix have started switching over to Blockbuster Online in the last couple of months. When I ask them about it, they say they like how fast they get their DVDs with Blockbuster Online. We have several Blockbusters in our town so I'm sure returning for a DVD rental in-store is a reason as well.

For full disclosure, I never heard them say anything against Netflix but when they switched to Blockbuster Online all I heard was them telling everybody how much they liked it. They never did that with Netflix.

ETA - I'm talking about regular DVD rentals. Not HD or Blue-Ray.

I could too...during my trial. That's the problem-now I can barely do one turnaround in a week.

Uh..he never said anything about it being a fact..?? And that's unfortunate that you had troubles with Netflix.
I hated BB and dropped them after a few months because of the horrible turn around times and they claimed they never received a movie back from me when I had in fact dropped it off at their store.
OTOH, Netflix has been fast and I've had no troubles at all with them (after 4 months).
