blockbuster online > netflix!

So I made the mistake of believing an email that netflix sent me saying that they promise to ship the same day if everything is taken care of by 9am. Its been nearly a month and this hasnt happenned yet. They take forever to process my returns and ship movies randomly. I sent in 3 movies in the same envelope (trying to save time and money) and they processed the returns on different days! If I send 3 movies out, it is taking an average of 6 or 7 days to get three more movies. They either completely suck, or they are trying to cut back on costs and are holding back on shipping movies.

Either way, netflix can go bankrupt and I wouldnt care one bit.

apparently they have drunken monkies working in Michigan....I could deal with that if they sent some cool pics....but NOOOOOOOOO

Never had a problem with Netflix...love em....Blockbuster is another story....they can suck my asshole!!!

dude, I get my 3 movies on tuesday, return them same day, get 3 more on thursday, return same day, get 3 more on saturday...... thats 9 in one week.... it rocks here!

PS why do u ship them in the same envelope to "save money"??? They give you a pre-postmarked envelope

odd....i got almost the opposite experience. With netflix everything fine, send day 1, wait day 2, get new one day 3. With Blockbuster its send day 1, forget about it, one day it comes.

With blockbuster, one time i sent back all 3, they send me only two movies, and then for the longest time it just sat there for 2 movies, till i sent back my two movies and then they sent me 3 movies but said one of my 2 that I returned was still out so the system had 4 movies out even though I'm only allowed to rent 3. Weird. I went to cancel and they gave me a month free, so I'm spending this month free.

I figure its cheaper for them to only pay postage on one envelope. I actually try to do whatever I can to keep costs down. Plus I figured that way they would have to scan the movies all at once. But I guess the drunken monkies broke the scanner.

Stuffing multiple discs in one envelope could be the problem.

I've had netflix for several years and they've always been prompt. And since they opened a distribution center here in WA the turn-aound time is usually just one day each way (mail on Monday get a new disc back Wednesday).

yeah, it all has to do with location!

the distro center is 45 minutes away. I know for a fact that they get the movies the day after I send them. It still takes them 3 days to process them, and another day to ship out my new ones. Factor in the weekends and I am looking at usually 6 day turnarounds.

in NC and my turnaround is quick, send it out monday, get it back thursday, or friday at the latest

sucks that theyre lousy in your area though :/

Yup, used to suck until they opened a distro in GBO

I agree with GoodDad and had similar situations. They were good for a while, but then they started to pull the same games on me. They tell you that its ok to put 2 movies in the same envelope when you return them but sometimes they get checked in on different days though. The worst is when they got discs back on Friday, it would say they received them and my next selections are scheduled to ship on Monday. This is when I check their site around noon on friday. Why couldn't they still ship them out on friday? Thats 3 extra days of waiting for no reason. I finally got fed up and quit.

Netflix is great. Just the other day, I sent back two dvds, but realized later that I forgot to put them in their sleeves! But they still processed it, and I already got new dvds.

A while ago, I started sending the dvds through my work floor mail, and they were all getting lost! (probably someone stole them) But I was able to file them as lost online, and get the next queue item immediately! Of course, when there were 5 dvds that were lost in a short span of time, I had to call them and tell them what was happening. Needless to say, I stopped sending the dvds through my floor mail.

I haven't used blockbuster, but it doesn't have the huge selection that netflix has, and its cs can't be any better than netflix's.

I have blockbuster online and I have about three day turnaround times but they have some eery new system where the post office scans the DVD or something and the next DVDs are shipped out, I can send out the movies and either the same day or the next the next couple on my queue have been mailed. Plus I dig the free instore rentals for when we want a movie right now. Now if I could just get the mailman to stop putting our mail in the neighbors mailbox...

Are you by any chance renting a lot of movies each month, on just the 3-movie plan? If you're renting 15+ movies a month I suspect they have some kind of heavy use slowdown kick in.
