Just curious: why would Blockbuster start a new promotion on a Tuesday? Something to do with cleaning up/packaging all the weekend's returns for sale?

Tuesday is the day when new movies come out.

That is also the day when they take movies off the New Release Wall and put them for sale as PV.

My local Bloodsucker has had the PVDVD for 9.99 going for over two month. They had buy 2 get 1 free (3 for $19.98--<$7 @). This may run for a while.

Here in Kokomo, IN, our BB has been selling all Prev. Viewed DVDs for $9.99 for 4 months or more. That's why it's so hard to find anything in stock. 400 copies of Amalie, not a one of LOTR...

I use to work for BBV and we get our pull list on Saturday or Sunday and we start working on PVD/PVT right away. So if you're looking for a hard to find title, try checking with them on those days and ask nicely if they can hold a copy for you. I usually do that for people if they are nice about it.

Guys, are your local Blockbuster using special rental DVD cases? They have this ghay yellow strip that requires this key to open. It's restarded so you have to go buy your own DVD cases or get a Case Logic binder case to store them.

My Blockbuster opens at 10am this morning, so I'll be heading over there soon to see what's going on with this sale.

THe blockbusters here in Lancaster, PA are doing the $9.99 DVD thing today. I stopped by my store last PM to scope the selection. Lotsa Blade 2. Also saw Sexy Beast, In the Bedroom, Resident Evil, Kung Pow, Training Day, Hart's War, 13 Ghosts, Time Machine, Amelie, Monsters Inc, Swordfish, and many others I can't remember. Was hoping for Brotherhood of the Wolf but they told me it hasn't been out long enough to "qualify" as a previewed title yet..

Edit: went back again. Also saw Criterion edition of Royal Tennenbaums, widescreen LOTR, Sex and the City 3rd season (1 copy), Mothman Prophecies. Odd man out was a single copy of episodes 1-4 of the TV series 24 Hours.

Careful - We have 2 franchises next to us, and they are not running the same deal. They are priced as marked, though a lot of them ARE priced $9.99. The real stores have the signs that say all pvdvds & vhs = $9.99, and regardless of what they are marked, the register will mark them down to $9.99. I learned this the hard way and paid $14.99 for Beauty & the Beast. Anyways, got Royal Tanenbaums, Shallow Hal, In the Bedroom, K-Pax, Vanilla Sky, and LOTR (make sure you get the W/S!). Thanks guys!

Unless they carefully screen the PV DVDs before putting them on sale, I wouldn't even begin to think about buying any PV DVDs from BB.

I've had to return 2 rentals in the last 2 weeks, and almost return 2 others, because it looked like someone had stuck them to the bottom of their shoe and gone for a run.

If they're not going to glance at the DVDs as they get them back in, I don't trust them to properly screen the PV DVDs to make sure they aren't horrendously scratched.

They have a 30 day return policy on these. What I do is buy the DVD(s), go to my car, open them all and inspect them. Out of about 15 I bought (back when they were buy 2 get 1 free) only one had a small scratch. I got out of my car and went in. I told the clerk and she had me pick out another one. She said I could open it there if I wanted to. Since it was only one, I opened it there and it looked fine.

No worries for me.

Ok, I went, I saw, I bought. The sale was happening as advertised. I got LOTR, MIB, and the last copy of Monsters, Inc. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: Yeah, MIB, not MIB2

I heard a while back that Blockbuster has some content edited from DVD's in the way Walmart censors CD's. Is there any truth to this rumor?
