First you need Ad Muncher which is free for 30 days. Look out for 1 year free offers as well.

Be sure to add origin to the filter target lists (Will be on by default in the next Ad Muncher update thanks to Jeff!)

Make sure your Advert list is up to date.

Uh, yeah...the most intrusive ads I get with Origin is an ad pop-up for whatever new release or sale is going on when you launch Origin. And Steam does much the same thing. Not seeing much of a point to this...

Origion ads don't bug me. Popups don't happen often and I have it setup to go straight to me games. I don't see the store unless I want to.

Didn't even know origin had a browser, BF3 defaults to chrome for me. This does seem like a stupid amount of work for really nothing but hats off for the diligence discovering this.
I know there is a crap load of origin hate but it's always worked reasonably well for me. Its definitely better than Impulse ever was and its easier to find your library or new games than amazon.

Steam has always had an option to disable notification of new games (adverts) and you can set the default page on load to be your library, so in essence you can use steam as literally just a game management system and be completely free of adverts, with no 3rd party tools.

One of the reasons steam is so good.

First... Origin has its own browser?

Second... people use Origin's browser?

Third... you only can stop the ads for 30 days?

I've used the Origin browser a few times during BF3 or ME3 and it's a little clunky, but still functional. Never noticed any advertising, at least none that was out of the ordinary.

I have never seen a single ad outside of the "new release" popup, which I actually do not mind. Steam does the same.

This seems like a ton of work and money for a non-issue. But I suppose if said person was a rabbid EA hater, maybe it makes sense. Although origin has non-EA games on it as well.

Not that I would use it, but where does one find one's Origin browser? Ive used Origin for years and have never seen or heard of such a thing!

It works similar to the Steam overlay (when you play games launched through Steam). You start a game through Origin and you press Shift+F1 to launch the overlay which has a browser button on the bottom. I've used it a couple of times but it's slow and clunky like someone else here said.

Probably why Ive never seen it, I always launch from Battlelog in Firefox or from a desktop shortcut.
