Block flat to dry?

I bought a cashmere sweater and it got dirty by mud water. Instruction says block flat to dry. What does this mean?

They really mean "Lay flat to dry", I believe. Don't take my word for it, though, especially given your user name.

You put heavy blocks on it to keep it flat while drying.
