Well, just read an interesting threadon the official forums.

Can't post there so i'll post here. Damnit, they'd better change this mindset, design philosophy, whatever. Stuff like that really ruins the immersion for me.

EDIT: who am I kidding, they won't change. Fvck. Looks like another MMO down the drain.

I like all the dwarfs eyeing her up. :p

Also kinda surprised that the high lvl that took the screenshots only had 1 toolbar.

Guess someone didn't hear about cosmosui. :D

Not to mention the new durability death penalty. People on the official forums are saying you'll end up spending more time repairing gear and farming to pay for it than in actual combat...*sigh*

One of many threads on the nerfs:

Modeps, that depends on your position in the first place. We all know yours is "mmos suck." For those who don't feel that way, well, for me, it makes the game a lot worse. Removes immersion, looks plain stupid, etc.

Here's a quote from a poster in that thread that pretty much sums up how I feel about it:

" ....When I was waiting for that picture to load, I couldn't even FATHOM it could be that bad.

Blizzard, what the hell is wrong with your artists? You ban someone for using the word "Crap", and you don't allow the word "Black" in Guild names under the guise of a family oriented, friendly environment, but every female character can look like a hooker half way through the job, that THAT is acceptable?!

What hypocritical bull$!@%, i'm actually offended (and i'm hugely thick-skinned)"

I'm supposed to just "handle" sh!t that ruins the game for me? You're right, the teen influence is heavily present in this newest round of art changes and it's a real godamn shame they felt the need to go in this direction. Nudity in games can have a place, but it should be extremely rare and never like this IMO. This is just...pathetic.

Interesting stuff on the decay information. The armor graphics don't look real to me(the lower buttocks portion), looks like a photoshop job but I've never played WoW so I really can't say. Doesn't really offend me but I don't think it adds value to the game.
Anyhow anyone wanting to donate your stress test account feel free.

I dont think MMO's suck, I think that they're just not worth my money and eat too much of my time up... after stepping away from DAoC, I had spent almost 500 hours in the game... that's far too much of my life gone to a single game. Prior to DAoC, the game that had gotten the most of my attention was Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast... with about 100 hours.

Anyways, n Blizzard, you can take off all your armour in the first place and be left with a scantaly clad woman or man. It's not much of a differance.

Nothing's perfect, keep in mind both Blizzard and Sony are after the l33t k1dz demographic, the difference being Blizzard doesn't rape their customers and puts out a quality product. If you're really against that mindset, check out Vanguard, which should be out in '06 or '07. Mall, I know you're aware of the game, I'm linking it for anyone else interested. As far as the gameplay nerfs, keep in mind that a game which is too easy gets boring too quickly and attracts children. I know; it's what EQ1 has turned into as Sony has more & more gone after the male preteen crowd who couldn't be bothered with the game as it was (ie. "2 hrd"). The easier it got, the more of them joined, and I eventually quit. Playerbase is nearly as important as game quality; otherwise why would any of us pay a monthly fee when there are offline RPGs available for a one time cost?

well put, and good point. Yeah, Vanguard mission states "to put the challenge back into the genre." Doesn't say anything about art policy but this does imply a certain level of maturity, perhaps above the need to do what Blizzard (and others) are doing. Which, in turn, could lead to a decent playerbase. Sounds great! Unfortunately it's 2 yrs away :(
Oh well, plenty of non-mmo rpgs coming out before then.

Game domains are banned here what is the problem mal?
you dont like the high level female armour?

we have real girls in our guild that love it..
and YES they are real we use teamspeak and they re married or dating guy members and got addicted =P

I love it myself..
its no worse than AO or EQs scantily clad girls..
in fact there are alot of fantasy sites (D&D type stuff) that the girls are always in plate mail bras etc =P

the game is great they arnt going to change the artwork so wear another armour set if you dont like the grafics on 1 of them...

as said above this is a Teen rated game and sex sells.. so give up that argument..

I suppose you dont care for the NE Female dance either or the Gnome dances either...
or even the /v flirts as they are kinda racy also..

I agree that the 10% penalty sucks as does the 100% penatly for ressing at the spirit healer... but this is still a beta.. feedback it in game and bliz will balance it more...

i spent half my cash last night on 5 deaths all caused by the server... and my char is only L18
50s total...
thats alot of cash untwinked and on a new server at L18... for 20 mins of deaths

shesh.. peeps are soo hard up in the USA... peeps overseas arnt even batting an eye at games with naked toons but here OMFG wear lowriders or daisy dukes and OMFG you pervs!

sigh sometimes I wish we were more like the rest of the world where sex is OK and violence is the bad thing.

Meaning all high lvl female armour looks like that? Sad :frown:

I guess I'm bored of it. Sex I have in real life. I don't get turned on by in game material and tbh feel sorry for those that do. And my arguement is against the principle. I hardly expect things to change, hence why I edited my initial post. I prefer a more mature game is all. Comes down to what we discussed ages ago regarding penalties, etc. There's a saying that goes something like this: "The sweet is never as sweet without the sour." To expect everything to be all sunshine and laughter all the time is unrealistic and tedious and games that follow this philosophy don't hold my attention for long.

Sure, I may be in the minority right now, but things are changing.

Heh, having said this, there's more than enough room for opposing philosophies in this genre, so I suppose we can just agree to disagree eh? :)

Let's not get into the social issues k? Violence is as much a part of life as sex is, no question. Violence is, in fact, everything this game is about. Getting back to the actual issue at hand, to put it as simply as possible: how effective is metal underwear at protecting the wearer? it isn't, and it's retarded. It has a place maybe in a fantasy spoof.

Why beat around the bush here? let's just leave all the fighting to the men, as it should be, and leave the women at home to make the house and themselves pretty. As it is, this kind of crap is just a adolescent male dream. I am not interested in this kind of fantasy. "hey, let's hunt down this demon, he drops sweet loot! Oh and BONUS there are some chicks coming and man look at what they're wearing *wink*" Like some have said, if the female characters dress like that they should not be out fighting they should be swinging around a pole or putting red lights in their windows. If they want to fight, wear something that will protect you.

I agree that it looks extremely silly.
I'm no chick, but I imagine if I were, and was about to go into combat with some nasty monsters, I wouldn't do it wearing my stripper clothes.

The new patch and the subsequent complains reminds me of AC2 where they patched everything downwards until they finally did the 'We are condensing our 10 servers into 4 servers'. WoW will never get so low (25 people logged on to a server at certain times), but from what the patch says, they removed quite a bit of fun and replaced it with a large timesink.

(just so people don't think I am a few bolts short-I am answering in regards to the fellow who mentionned the new death penalties- I didn't notice the new armor since I didn't play past level 10 to keep the game fresh when its actually out).

Further reasons why Open Beta is making me cry. :(

Though I kinda wish I'd made a high-level female character so I could do the Night Elf Sexy Dance ... then proceed to morph into Bear Form and maul the fsck out of all the no0bs standing around gaping. :D

That's how you get so much AC.

The monster stops and drools while you bash it over it's head. :D

What makes you think a murlock likes that sort of thing? Wouldn't it prefer a lady murlock? All player characters must look incredibly ugly to them. Just admit you get off on the new "art" and we'll leave it at that?
