I wanted to title this something like 'What do Blip TV and [somebody's name] have in common?' the answer of course being 'they both suck massive dick', but since I couldn't come up with a good example I went with something simpler (but it does indeed suck massive dick).
My seething hatred in general aside, the particular issue that's provoking me right now is the location of the temp files for their video streams. The obvious place to check is of course the browser cache, but nothing shows up in the FF cache folder and Opera will create a .tmp file that seems to have about 3/4 of the video when played in FLV player. It didn't used to be so, but there was either Flash update or a change to their website that changed everything and it's really pissing me off.
It should be immediately apparent that I of course want to copy the saved streams to another folder so I can watch them without using a browser, but there's more to it than just that. It irks the shit out of me that these files are being stored somewhere on my computer other than where they should be, and my frustration at not being able to find them has me ready to hit something.
I've checked the various temp/tmp folders on C:\, the local and roaming folders in the Users directory, Program Files- both regular and x86- appdata, and any Adobe directories I've come across without success. Windows 7 default search likewise sucks massive dick, though one of the threads here helped me with the advanced syntax, and hunting for any files modified today hasn't pulled up what I'm looking for. I know the files are on my system drive because I see the available space drop by several hundred megabytes when the stream loads. Cleaning out the Opera/FF caches and temp folders doesn't help, but if I close the browser the used space gets reclaimed.
Does anybody know anything about where the Blip streams reside? And how exactly are these files grabbing space on my drive but not showing up in any of the usual locations? Is this a Windows thin or is Adobe pulling some shit to hide this from me, or is it something else? Thanks.
