Blinking Linksys!

Hey all,

I just installed a Linksys EtherFast 10/100 NIC in my computer. I plugged it in to the network here. The Link/Act LED is flickering constantly now. This seems kinda weird. The manual says it is should stay lit and blink when it receives data.

Is something wrong with it? On a related note (or maybe not), in network neighborhood most of the workgroups are "unavailable." There is no way that many workgroups could possibly be unavailable. I can acess some workgroups/computers.

Well, this is somewhat frustrating. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

If you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and bring up task manager, are you running anything in the background that would initiate net traffic (ie Ping)?

I use mine for cable modem.. the yellow lamp..LInk remains on at all times system is running... the green lamp..tx/rx blinks as data is transmitted and anytime network activity occurs on the cable modem. My modem activity lamp intermittently flickers for what ever reason even if I am not accessing a page on the internet and just remaining Idle. When that occurs then the tx/rx of course also flashes in response.
