fiancee and I were in for a shock when we saw the prices of blinds at Lowes and Home Depot. We want to get some decent looking blinds for our windows but might be forced to reconsider curtains given the $100+ price per set of blinds at those two stores.

Will check out BlindsToGo this weekend but not expecting much better either.

Any other place where one might find cheaper blinds?

Blindstogo should do better than HD.

yea. we were browsing the wood and fake wood blinds in the special order blinds section. Not the cheap generic kind. Maybe they have good looking blinds that are not special order. Gotta go back and check

I know for my first house, we did the faux plantation blinds for about $25-$30 a pop depending on the size. Can't imagine spending $100 for a single set.

Went with faux wood for 2 rooms. I think they were around $30-$40 each (have large windows).

They block out a fraction of the light & heat over a quality set of blinds. Over 10 years the more expensive ones probably pay for themselves.

i couldn't imagine spending that much. between the dogs and kids they ruin even the cheap $15 ones we have. though i do admit I love the look of the wood ones.

very fortunate previous owners left theirs... they match the custom paint walls exactly.

My cats and conures have totally destroyed every set of blinds in my apartment. I'm sure this will cost us when we want to move out!!!

Damn animals. $50-$100 a window... damn.

We paid around $3,800 for window treatments 9 years ago. I had no idea it was going to be that $$$.

I went with blinds.com. $100 after $50 rebate for two custom blinds. They are very sturdy although some of the slats are very slightly bowed. I would still by from them again.

Also bought one set of Levelors from Lowes and had them cut it to the size I needed. I don't like them as much as the blinds.com blinds.

You might check out JCPenney's website too. They had some pretty nice looking non-custom metal ones I got. 3 windows for about 100$ if i remember correctly. Also, they had wood ones for only a few dollars more per window
