As part of my edumacation, they yanked our monitor cables and made us do some web browsing with accessability software. I honestly found it highly amusing, since I know all the keyboard shortcuts and sh!t, and knew the websites we were moving around by heart. Some people, though, were totally frustrated. And we could even see the keyboards to know WTF we were pushing.

and WTF is "AJAX"? and "Web 2.0"? I've managed to completely avoid these buzzwords.

No idea what Web 2.0 means, but AJAX uses javascript and XML to create dynamic websites without refreshing the entire page. Like gmail.

Like many buzzwords, it's just a term someone made up for technologies that already existed.

Not doing this sort of thing is sloppy coding anyway. The ALT attribute is mandatory in the HTML spec - so why is it missing?
Image maps are also not forbidden in accessible web sites. Server-side image maps are bad - and should have a redundant text-based list but client-side image maps are actually fine, as long as they include adequate ALT text to describe each of the regions. This sort of thing is not difficult and not doing it is sheer laziness.

Great.... The blind kid will probably get a big settlement, Target and other retail companies will need to spend millions to redesign their websites, and everyone else will need to pay higher prices to cover these costs. Thanks a lot, you whiny little bastard :|
