blender issues on debian amd64

for some reason blender locks up whenever i move the camera past a certain point. doesn't matter whether the version installed is from the debian packages or off the blender main website. the program loads fine. i can move objects around, but moving the camera past a certain point causes x window to lock up (although i can still ssh into the computer). anyone encounter this before?
 
No, but it's more likely a problem with the non-free nvidia or fglrx driver and not blender itself if you're using one of them.
