Oh well, I figured it was worth a try! I'm still without power after the hurricane and probably will be for a couple days. My meat is in a storage container in the fridge in the breakroom at my work now (where I am), ha!

BTW, while we're on the subject, does anyone know how long a brand new battery backup needs to be charged? I just picked a couple up under a VERY GOOD deal and am not sure if I have enough time to charge fully while I'm at work or not...

I know how bad that sucks. We lost a standalone freezer full of food plus the refrigerator/freezer full of food when Isabel came through here last year.

A fridge draws several amps - since I don't have the back panel of a fridge handy, I'll guess and say 5 amps. 120V, 600W. You'd need a heck of a backup supply to run it for more than a few minutes - and it'd need a good rating to power it while it's starting up.

And the manual should say how long it needs to be charged - anywhere from 4-12 hours.

Hahahaha, a looter.

Actually there is a deal on fatwallet.com (prob posted here too by now) that shows them for $29.99 each (online, you can pick up in store like me), plus a $10 off $50 coupon, and $30 in rebates for each.
