My post count and length of service perhaps qualify me for one little spam?
Here goes!
Fellow football fans, rumour-mongers, and yes... even the red shite!
I want to invite you all to the launch of something great in football gossip and news ... www.fanrumours.com.
Now I know what you are thinking... yes there are football websites, yes there are gossip sites, yes there are news aggregation sites, yes there are social sites.... But not all in one place!
This is a social network built around football, it's news, it's rumours, and its fans! If any of you have used something like digg, facebook, technorati, or similar sites then you are aware of what a social network site is like. The reason they are so successful is that the content is driven by the users of the website, and the websites allow everyone to interact with friends, decide which content they like and which they don't want to see, and provide lots of way for you all to interact.
Fanrumours.com has a huge feature list so I will just point out the highlights:
Story Submissions - The simple 3 step process allows all registered users to post any story from any source. Whether it be a rumour from your mate seeing Ronaldinho having dinner with the Chelsea board last night, or a BBC story about referee performances at the weekend. The system weeds out duplicate stories and even imports from common sites such as BBC Sport to aggregate all your football news in one place.
Story Voting - The beauty of the system is it is the readers who decide what gets published. Under 'Upcoming News' you will find all the stories submitted (split into categories if you like such as 'Tottenham' or Scottish Football). If you like a story, then there is a one click button next to it to vote for it. If a story gets enough votes it gets published on the front page. Likewise if you think it's 'bull' you can bury the story. You the users decide what is true, what is interesting and what is plain old crap, and most impoprtantly what gets published on the front page! Support your team and make sure your club's news gets the attention it deserves.
Extensive Comment System - Each story has it's own mini 'forum' attached to it allowing fiery debate to rage in a single, joined up discussion thread right next to the story itself.
Friends System - You will find many people you like and many people you despise with a vengeance in the discussions. You can block those you hate... but, more importantly, those you like you can add to your friends list and track each others submissions, comments, and the stories they voted for meaning those with similar interests help each other find good football news.
Profiles - Profiles allow you to see extra information about other users such as their homepages, teams, where they are from and allow you to send each other messages.
Live System - The Live page lets you see the comments and stories fly in on a single page. Strangely hypnotising if you like that kind of thing.
Tagging - You can tag the stories you submit with keywords which make it easier for both you and other users to find what they want. On the Tag Cloud page you can see which are the most popular tags in a very visual way.
Top Users - The user league tables!! See who is the leader for most stories submitted, most votes recieved/given and comments. Kudos for those who wish to be like the Kingpin of the whole system!
There are many many more features both not mentioned and not yet introduced, but right now what we need is YOU! The fans! Come and register (it takes less than sixty seconds and none of that stupid email confirmation crap!). Set us a bookmark, and I guarantee that soon you will need no other football website! Use our bookmarklet button on the Profile page to submit stories you stumble upon around the web with a single click. And most of all Have Fun!
Any questions, queries, suggestions or compliments, just email me at admin@fanrumours.com!
Thankyou
Sean
