blank with 2x CD-ROM installed!help!

I have a Soyo 7VCA socket 370 motherboard. I try to put a 2x CD-ROM on secondary IDE(set to master) and I get a blank screen. Does anyone know why that happens?

You might want to make sure that your CDROM is a real ATAPI drive and does not use one of the older proprietary connections that you see on the end of old sound cards, ie Panasonic/Sony/....(I can't remember what the third connection was).

Tanks for the reply. My 2x CD-ROM indeed isn't a IDE devices at all. It needs proprietary connections to my very old(really old, half duplex)soundcard.
