Blank screen but not mobo/video

Hey all,

My friend's pc crashed in the middle of a game w/out warning. Crashed with a black screen..

upon re-boot all that persists is a black screen .There are no bios beep codes...video card was swapped w/ a working model, ditto on monitor.

all i have so far on his specs is:

HD = western digital
mobo = nforce 2
proc= barton 2500+
video card = GF3

any ideas? i'm thinking a bad mobo...

Could be a lot different factors.

Overheated CPU, 3.3v GeForce card instead of 1.5v, Bad stick of Ram

Try clearing the CMOS first.
If still no go, remove ram.

told him to clear cmos...non-oc'd cpu...stock Hs/fan....

If it was ram there would be bios beep codes...right?

You would neccessarily get beep codes with bad ram.
Try moving the ram to another slot.

What GeForce card is it?
If it is not a 1.5v, he could of easily killed the board if
he used a 3.3v card.

how can you differentiate? The card has been in use for about 2-3 weeks
