Blah! WTF!!! Why? does my monitor do this?!?

Okay okay .. when I had a 17" viewsonic (older one, not flat) it didn't do this.
I got a 19" dell P990 off lease from a off lease dell place and it was great, but sometimes it would kind fo vibrate in the bottom left corner .. it's like the refresh rate there is different than the rest of the monitor (1280x1024 @ 85hz)
Well then, I got a new one (for other reasons too) a Dell P991 which is the flat version (and oh so nice!!)
Anyways .. this one exhibits the exact same problem!!!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I exchanged the first P991 I got on these grounds, the second one did the same thing and I figure it's something in my room or my KVM that is doing this.
I have a cybex switchview that I paid a pretty penny for. My other machines don't exhibit this retardation. A redhat box and various in and out win2k boxes.
It's fvcking pissing me off.
What electronic devices could be causing this type of interference?

My KDS Visual sensations did that too. It was annoying as hell. Lasted abotu a week before the monitor crapped out.

A week eh?
I have a six month exchange warantee .. I don't want to use it though.
The other monitor did this for a while and never showed signs of quitting.
Like, right now it's not doing it.

Symptoms indicate an alternating magnetic field may be influencing the monitor since you have had multiple monitors exhibit the problem. Move the monitor to another location away from anything that can create a magnetic field.

Examples of things that create magnetic fields. Another monitor running a different refresh rate, TV, Fans, motors, large speakers, elevators, air conditioners, air purifiers, electric street cars, subway trains, electric staplers, fluorescent lamps etc. Basically anything with an electric motor or an appliance that draws a lot of electric current can interfere with your monitor and cause it to jiggle. In fact the source of the magnetic interference could be relatively far from the monitor it all depends on the strength of the magnetic field.

Found another one that surprised me last week: My CELLPHONE interferes with the monitor depending on which way it is pointed. Only when in use tho.

It could also be the switchbox. Have you tried connecting the monitor to the computer directly?

I too have noticed the weirdness of cell phones interacting w/ monitors (and speakers)

i was at a friend's house with my monitor on the coffee table, and speakers on either side of it. My cell was sitting behind the left speaker, next to the monitor

all of a sudden, the left side of the monitor kinda freaks out, and static comes from the speakers... my friend and i look at each other, and after a split second, the cell phone rings... while i was on it i moved my head towards the monitor and it would kinda do weird stuff, and static through the speakers again... when i hung up, it all quit

SO, it could be something very small, or something you'd never expect causing this to happen... try the monitor in another room of the house

My monitor did this for awhile, but I didn't have anything near it that would generate a magnetic field. Not sure if it was a problem with my graphics card or something, but when I got my new machine it stopped. However, my monitor is refurbished and at the time I got the new computer it was about ...6 years old, so that might have something to do with it😕.
I still have occasional problems with waves going up and down the screen, but a firm whack or two on the top fixes that.
fs, I need an LCD.
