Blah.. 32-bit processes won't terminate

I'm stumped. On every other bootup, some 32-bit processes will NOT terminate no matter what. This disallows the system from ever shutting down. I can't force kill it at all. I've used just about every single kill software and native windows commands available, and nothing can kill the processes. It's only the 32-bit processes that are effected.

There's no real pattern to it either. Any random 32-bit process can suddenly decide that it won't terminate at all, unless I force a shutdown (hold power button for ~5 seconds..)

Try a repair install of Vista. Sounds like something may be currupted.

*shakes fist @ laptops that come w/ no DVD's, and instead has a partition for its backup, and the only recovery option is to reinstall everything*

Ya, I tried sfc /scannow, tried locating the probable corrupt files and just replacing them from other vista machines... But ya, you are right that something is corrupt. I just need to scour through the sfc's output to locate them sigh

Well know you know you need to maintain a backup of your important data so a data wipe and reinstall isn't so bad.
