Payback for not spilling the beans on Obama's involvement.
how much you guys wanna bet obummer pardons him in 2012/2016?
gotta look out for the cogs of the chicago machine
I doubt it, because:
1) I don't think Blago and Obama were ever close.
2) I think Obama viewed this disposition of his Senate seat as HIS prerogative rather than Blago's.
3) Blago is no longer a useful cog in the Chicago machine, to the extent he ever was.
4) Pardoning Blago would make Obama look corrupt.
5) From what little I've heard of Obama's participation, he seems to have pulled out completely from the negotiations when Blago insisted on determining his personal benefit before deciding whom to appoint, rather than accepting the usual form of appointing whom Obama and the party selected in anticipation of being appropriately rewarded.
6) Blago is now thoroughly discredited, so anything he says is unlikely to affect Obama.
7) If Blago had proof of Obama's malfeasance, I think he would have used it to get Obama to kill the investigation and prosecution to avoid conviction, maintaining his political viability.
8) Blago is pretty loose-lipped; I think a jailed Blago is less potentially dangerous to Obama (and probably to the Party) than is a free Blago.
I'm going to be very surprised if Obama pardons him. I'd be very surprised if Obama even wants to pardon him.
That's true, there would be no repercussions as long as it is near his end of tenure. There would be a lot of people looking for such transactions though. Personally I think Obama values his reputation more than that. As for money, he'll be giving speeches for probably up to a million a pop. All past Presidents do this. Money wan't be a problem.there would be no repercussions for obama to pardon blago on his last day of office. what are they gonna do, impeach him on his last day? its pretty common for US presidents to pardon people on their last days/week of office.
even if it was for a money grab:
blago: hey barrack, spring me from the pen and ill give you $10M. doing only one(five) year(s) instead of 14 would be nice.
obummer: ok
would make a nice retirement fund, no?
