Hey guys! New to these boards, and I guess I'll open with hyping up an MMO I've been looking forward too for some time; Blade & Soul. There's a review of the beta here. http://www.bladeandsouldojo.com/topic/2395-the-dojos-blade-soul-cbt1-review/

The combat system seems to be the most intriguing aspect of Blade & Soul as it actually seems to require some level of skill to play beyond 112112112. You have to actually aim your abilities both as ranged and melee. You can also actively block attacks rather than relying on RNG (random number generator.)

Anyways, I won't blab too much in one post. 😀

It looks like quite an uninteresting over-the-top JMMORPG with the usual overall feminized character design styles. But hey, welcome to the boards.

And yeah, it does have that standard JRPG design when it comes to its characterization, but the gameplay itself does actually seem really fun. There are a few videos on youtube showing just how different the playstyle really is, especially when it comes to pvp.

Will it be game of the year? Probably not. Is it worth trying? I think so! 😀
 
I don't get it. All that gameplay video was showing me was some retarded looking rabbit chick shooting fireballs and it looked like any of the other MMOs out there.
 
No one is going to create an account on a hardware forum just for the purpose of posting a review without some ulterior motive. Obvious shill is obvious.

Reviews are supposed to be fairly unbiased looks at the game. Somehow I don't think a review about Blade & Soul hosted on bladeandsouldojo.com is going to be exactly fair.

It could be potentially biased, granted. But that is not always the case. Several final fantasy XIV fansites were brutally honest about how bad and unfinished the game was. Besides, it's not like fansites are paid by the developers to promote their game. Companies do that all on their own through their own resources. Fansites are only supported by the communities of which they become a part of. If all they did was spew promotional bullcrap no one would trust them from the get go and they probably wouldn't even exist today.

Not saying I openly trust everything fansites say from the get go, but not often to they survive to continue to promote the game they like if said game is genuinely terrible.

You also get to run around kind of like a ninja... give me a ninja-ish class and I'll probably give it a try 😛.
 
I remember seeing a video of this one about a year ago. After seeing the wall jumping, I've sort of been looking forwards to it, if for no other reason than nostalgia for all the hop and chops I grew up watching way back when.

In the end though, it will probably be another korean mega grindfest, which will turn away any potential US audience.

I'm sure I'll try it out though, at the very least.

Whether they keep my subscription after the first month though, thats a whole 'nother story

Well, in beta 2 there will be an Assassin class, so maybe you'll get your wish. Assuming that their version of "Assassin" is the same as ours. 😛

Apparently the leveling is the same as more western mmos, questing like crazy. Apparently from levels 1-20 there was no need to just grind. As for the levels beyond that, who knows. But hopefully they will follow that same method as flat out grinding does suck.
