Blackwake, a multiplayer pirate FPS

One of my favorite youtubers Frankie showed off a video the other day of this kickstarter game which is in alpha/beta right now.

I'll just let his video speak for the game

The kickstarter is here https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2000479544/blackwake-reboot and the backer price for the full game and alpha/beta access is $19 USD or £12 which makes it a low risk investment. As of right now the kickstarter has 38 hours left, it's something I'm going to back and it's already blown through it's modest target goal, so I think this is worth a look.

Another funny video from the kickstarter

Can't these guys just grab a broom like a gun and see how that looks? Man I wouldn't be able to play this game this hand wrapping all around the rifle would distract me too much.

Looks hilarious! Too bad you can't beta/alpha test it 🙁

Seems like controlling the cannons would be a chore.

That's seriously the funniest thing I've watched all week. I cracked up around 5:40 when that one guy jumped on the enemy ship and everyone else promptly floated away.

It's a flat-out awesome game idea, but what made this funny was obviously the Brits
having such a great time with it. To make it really shine they would need to add at least a little modeling of ship handling so you couldn't just drive where you wanted, i.e. maybe model running, broad reaching, close haul, coming about, and wearing with the appropriate changes on ship velocity and momentum. Make the rudder responsiveness dependent on speed, etc. It would also be nice if the crew had to run up the rigging and click on a yard to set or take in sails. But anyway, it's obviously really early and I will definitely be keeping an eye on it.

that would be too complicated for casuals who know nothing about sailing I guess.

Looks like AC Black Flag. One would do well to play that if they wanted to sail and attack ships.
well the point of this game is that you play as a complete team instead of just being one guy controlling a ship completely.

I see it more as a ship-based mount and blade given the presence of various weapons.
