blacklight questions

I'm looking for a few blacklights...the most powerful ones I can find. no restrictions about size or power usage. do you know where to find some really high brightness ones?

I frickin' love blacklights in clubs. I've got a couple shirts that simply transform into works of art under them. They also seem to be powerful drunk magnets. On several occasions I've had girls just walk right up, staring, and just go "whoa" then reach out to touch me. 😱

We used some really powerful mercury vapor lamps back in 1979 to attract Luna moths in southeastern PA. They worked the best with filters so in essence only the longer UV rays escaped. Boy did that attract the bugs. I acquired quite a collection of large moths that year. 🙂

FL tubes come in several varieties. Blacklight and Blacklight Blue. They are essentially the same to a bug. However, the blacklight blue is the lamp you want. It appears black when off and when energised it's purple. The blacklight tube looks like a regular FL tube and is bright blue when energised. It also causes fluorescence like the BLB. These are commonly used in insect lanterns (bug zappers) and sometimes used to speed the treatment of jaundice in infants.

If you really want to make things fluoresce at a long distance, you'll need a short arc xenon lamp with a UV filter. This is very covert and can make things glow for miles in the direction the lamp is pointed. Cost? If you must ask, it's too much! 🙂

If you already have the florescent fixture(sp??) this place has $20 for 48 inchers or $10 for 18 inchers. I got a couple for my dorm room, they work great. They are $40 and $15 respectively with the fixtures included.
