Blackberry? Treo?

Mrs. Carbo travels internationally often, and when she is sober she occasionally needs to contact me. She doesn't want a laptop, since that's overkill for her purposes. Which got me to thinking about these Blackberry devices, or the Treo.
As I understand it, these units are cell phones with email, IM, and internet capabilites. Does that about sum it up? If so, are there differences between the two? She is presently with T-Mobile if that makes a difference.
Can a few of you folks who have actually used these things share your take on 'em? Thanks.

this often generates a heated discussion between the blackberry fanboys and the treo fans (i say fans because i'm no boy) 😉

it really depends on what you're doing. you can get verichat for your treo or your blackberry from http://www.pdaapps.com

i use that with my husband all the time and it works great. i love my treo 🙂

the treo also has the other capabilities, and it's in color, and you can install games on it and other useful applications. your treo can be a really fun device in addition to a productivity tool. they have cameras as well, which is nice.

i'd go for the treo 650. you should look into both options yourself though before making a final decision.

Can either be used with T-Mobile, since I get the feeling she isn't going to want to switch cell phone carriers.

Although I am a BB user, I wouldn't call myself a BB Fanboy. But it should be noted that this is all true for the BB as well.

there is a program for BB's that lets you use IM and not cost txt messages. Plus true push email. BB is great for internet. Treo seems much better as a pda.

Look at the Siemens sx66 or whatever it's called, my dad got one from work and loves it. neonerd on this forum has one too

I've had the BB 7520 for a little over a month. I love it.

No complaints. I use it for appointments, web, email, instant messenger, text messaging and as a phone. Absolutely great. Can't wait till the next gen!

The treo seems just overkill. I think for bizness BB is the way to go.

don't forget the mp3 player feature for Treo. 😉 I'd mention movies but I doubt she'd care.

if you're on t-mobile and want the best im/chat phone available, wouldn't the sidekick2 be the best bet? easiest chat, smallest footprint w/ the swingout screen, good internet useage and not bad as a pda, but definitely nothing as good as a treo or bb

i have a treo 650 and i love it. the blackberry is also a good alternative you've got to research them yourself to find out exactly what feature set you need.

have had my BB7100t for several months and LOVE it. A buddy has the Treo 650and hates it, and after playing with it for a little while, I was glad I have my BB

I had to setup a treo for the CEO and President of my company. They are handy devices, yet large. The internet was slow, but if it is only going to be used for email purposes, it should be fine. You can also hookup a blue tooth headset asd well. The CEO and President use Verizon with theirs and they seem to be happy with it.

Definitely check out the SK2. Its PDA features are not nearly as robust as Treo or Blackberry, but the browser and keyboard are much better, IMO. Supports AIM out-of-the-box and you can download Yahoo Messenger for no charge.
