Yeah, you're never going to get the speed of a real KB on a touch screen. You have to make a choice if that is the form factor you prefer.

I am seriously wanting to get this phone soon but id like to ask some questions that I cant seem to find anywhere. Will this phone play divx or xvid videos? What other kinds of apps can you use with it besides the like 6-9 they advertise for it? Is the built in navagation blocked by VZW ( Heard that you can delete the VZ navigater and use the navagation blackberry has )? Can you really use the blackberry desktop software to edit your ringtones etc or are some of those features blocked by VZW as well? Is the drivers \ software 64 bit compadable?

I can only answer a couple of those questions. I've used it to play a xvid (I think, it had an avi extension) file. You can use BlackBerry maps for navigation, you just have to change the GPS setting to Location on under Options/Advanced Options.

I'm really happy with my Storm. I love the fact that it has a bigger screen and it seems to be way faster than my 8703e.

Thanks for the answers you could provide. This will be my first new phone since I got the krazr back in 06 so im looking forward to a phone that actually works lol. After the Krazr no more flip phones for me. Took 3 replacements before I gave up on trying to get one that didnt have the same issues.

That's what I'm hearing. Helped a lot with the slow OS and delay from going portrait to landscape and vice versa. Still not perfect, but definitely an improvement. If it shipped like this there probably wouldn't have been so many poor initial reviews.

I just got my BB Storm in yesterday. I got pretty comfortable with my previous BB 8800's trackball, so this touch screen thing is a bit of a transition for me.

Likes: Brilliant screen, typical BB features, better browser, cool factor

Dislikes: A bit laggy. I have to get used to the touch concept. I've messed up a few times while typing emails.

Later tonight, I'm going to check to see if I have the latest firmware, and install the latest version if I dont. From what I understand, that should remedy the lagging issue.

I generally go to these guys first.

They're the ones that helped me decide on the phone I have now, which I love. Over the past two months I went through a bunch of phones and not only did I get a feel for them but also how useful some of the popular review sites are.

For infosyncworld, 80% is awesome. They are very brutal in their review process.

Also, I think I must go check this out at the Verizon store tomorrow. I wont be able to get it, heck I probably wont even want it, but I must investigate.

I have a question for those other Storm owners out there. Mine came with a piece of plastic covering the screen which I have left on there since it seemed to be on there way better than any screen protector I could put on myself. Has anyone removed it? Is the screen or the touch function any better? Should I just leave it where it is?

This has been asked before. All electronic devices ship with some sort of screen cover to make sure no scratches occur during shipping. They aren't meant for permanent use, and you'll likely get scratches by using the stock one.

I would suggest one from www.bestskinsever.com I've used them for tons of stuff and I've never been disappointed.

invisibleSHIELD is also good, but a bit on the expensive side.

Cool, thanks for the information. It has been removed. I'm going to try without a screen protector for a while since it will almost always live in a holster. I did the same thing with my 8703 and it never got a scratch.

And not really worth it IMO since from my experience bestskinsever sells the exact same thing. I can't imagine what's better about invisible shield, as BSE is pretty much flawless.

I agree with you 100%. However, I'm constantly amazed by their fans who swear by them.
There has got to be a reason for it.

There has got to be a reason for it.

To their credit they usually beat BSE with offering protection for brand new products. IS had the storm cover available as soon as it was released, but BSE took a week. Not a big deal, and certainly not worth the premium, but that's all I can see that they do better.

BSE actually has one of the most friendly staff out there as well. My buddy had some trouble applying his BSE and at this point he had set the adhesive so it wasn't really reusable. He emailed them saying he couldn't get his to set right and if taking it off and starting over would ruin the skin. They said most likely, but not to worry about it and they sent him a brand new skin completely free. This was totally my friend's fault, and they still had his back. Top notch customer service has won me over personally
