You're right, alent1234. That IS a very useful tip or trick for the PlayBook! Thank you for your insight!

they are making less money every quarter along with declining market share. at some point in the near future they will start to lose money because their operational costs will be less than revenue.

their inventory already doubled over the last 6 months compared to last year. it's not because they are selling every phone they make. they are going to have to take a charge against it.

Feel free to post in the thread linked in my sig, please don't mess with the tips thread here. RIMM has enough problems

Please avoid posting comments about the financial situation at RIM, or marketshare, or comparing the Playbook against other tablets. Let's keep this thread with just discussions about the Playbook itself, how to tweak it, and other tips.

Thanks

I've been using my PlayBook while on vacation two or three times daily, and even used it to restart nnft.net when it went down. The iPad on the other hand, well we played Risk on it once...

Yeah I heard that as well. Glad it's finally coming, but there's no reason it should take this long. I can't believe we're still waiting for autocorrect, too.

Yeah, while it's easy to type on the auto correct is badly needed.

Been trying to use it more lately. I've found that the most useful function so far is as a portable camera/picture viewer at work. Lets me take notes without any writing/typing, and with a screen big enough to see/zoom in on details. It'd probably do wonders in the field, but I don't want buy pay for an Otterbox after blowing $70 on various protective cases.

Big e-mail/Android/Calendar update suppose to be in October. Took long enough...

Is there any way to get a different keyboard on the PlayBook? The 10 key numeric keypad is making me pretty crazy...

You can use the Android keyboard if you download the OS2 beta, but that's probably not what you meant :) Jailbreaking has apparently let people change icons, but no custom keyboards yet. I agree the key layout is pretty stupid, why not have an alt key to get #'s instead of having to switch to whole different keyboard screen?

I actually really like the keyboard...minus the lack of autocorrect anyway.

So have you taken the plunge then?

For $200, I couldn't resist, someone will eventually put HC on it :)

The no autocorrect is a pita, Christ the OS is so unpolished in some areas...

If it gets a NetFlix app and an eTrade app, I could actually live with it...

Honestly, I use it primarily as a web browser, and despite its unspectacular benchmark scores, I really like the browser. I think it performs pretty admirably in that regard.
