I've had to keep my gob shut about this for over four months. Nice unit. GPS and WiFi are a nice touch.

I think they packed the keyboard in too tight on the newer ones. I prefer the 7200 series.

Why?

I've got the pearl and I love it. I use the internet on it ALL the time.

I love my Pearl since having it for a month now. Fantastic little phone, I could imagine that the 8800 would be even sweeter.

To be honest, I never liked its looks - the screen is small, the border around it is too big and it has Jay Leno's chin (although I know why they had to make those sacrifices).

I'll play around with one next week, so we'll see how good the new software is.

NDAs. When I was at RIM, someone posted the codename for the Pearl a few months before the release (this was before all the pics leaked) and was promptly fired.

RIM would love to be as secretive as Apple, unfortunately the mobile business is such that a product is seen by hundreds (if not thousands) of people before its launched, so its really hard keeping things secret. This is the reason why Apple introduced the iPhone so early - if they had waited, everyone would have posted pics and videos of the product months before it shipped.

Yeah I'm interested to hear that too. Been planning on a Q but the 8800 looks pretty nifty :)

The Q had a lot of bad reviews.
I would make the jump to a data plan if verizon decides to carry the 8800

I absolutely love my pearl. Best phone I've ever had. The 8800 looks great as well, but in all honesty I prefer the pearl's more 'phone-like' features than that of a more pda style phone (i'm talking about the suretype keyboard here)

The only thing I don't like about the Pearl is the lack of adding memory to it. That irks me. That and coming from the Treo line, I liked the touchscreen ability. I do think the addition of a "normal" keyboard is a nice touch though...I'm still having some issues with the Pearl's KB now.

You can add memory to it. Just slide a microSD card into the appropriate slot underneath the battery, above the SIM card slot. I know it'll recognize 2GB, not sure about anything higher.

What are you talking about? My Pearl has a 512Mb stick in it. It takes up to a 1Gb MicroSD.

love my BB Pearl phone...if the 8800 is the same size as the Pearl I'll probably end up getting it, if it's bigger then I'll pass

It's slimmer than the pearl, which is by no means fat, but wider by 0.6" for the bigger screen and full QWERTY kb.

No Camera, but has GPS and WiFi.
