Blackberry + Activesync

Hi.

We have a few users who prefer their 9900 to modern iPhones, etc. We are however taking our BES servers off of life-support very soon.

Whilst we can do email via IMAP, I haven't found a solution to sync calendars, contacts and notes. BB OS 7.1 does not support Activesync natively, but only via their BES.

It needs to be cheap or free, otherwise we'll just force them to upgrade their phones.

All ideas appreciated.

My BES server blew up last year and for the 2 BB users I just set up via imap. Their existing contacts and calendars remained. I told them there will be no BES and if you want to continue using your BB you will have to deal. They dealt with it up until last month. There is no cheap/free with BB so either imap (no security) or make em go with a newer smartphone.

Does BBOS 7 not support syncing to google?

This used to be native to BBOS but the last time I had a Blackberry it was OS 4.

Thanks.

We tried Astrasync ($50/licence) but that doesn't cut it. No push.

We are trending towards a "deal with it" attitude.

@cronos I am not sure what you mean with Google?

When I had my Blackberry I had my Contacts/Calendar synced with my Google account. It was working perfectly.

I just realized that you're talking about a corporate environement. This is probably not an option even if it'll still work.

Yes, I'd prefer not to have to go via a third party. Besides, our admin commented that Google's BB support will be going the way of the Dodo soon.

The BESx looks good. Reading on it now. We'd only need abt 15 licenses.

AstraSync does support "Push" it would be located in sync schedule under options. Let me know if you need help! 🙂
