Hi all

I've been posting / reading on crackberry.com a bit on the above issue. I thought I would try here as well.

My wife and I got matching Bolds last week.... Rogers is our carrier. We love our new phones but can't seem to connect to wifi @ home or anywhere else.

Our home router is a D-Link DI-614+ (old, i know).

I've tried quite a few things in terms of router config.... WEP / open, MAC filtering, static DHCP... no matter what I do I can't get my Bold to get an IP address. It sees my router on the network (it sees wireless networks just fine) but it can't connect to it.

Obviously I'm really hoping to get it working because when I'm at home I'd like to be able to use my home hotspot and not incur charges on my Rogers data plan.

I'm @ work right now so I can't troubleshoot but I needed to see if anyone else here is experiencing wifi issues with their Bold.

I'm running the 190 software on mine, perhaps a rollback to 185 might work? One guy on crackberry.com is saying I should just get a new router. I'll consider that, IF I can connect to another wifi network but Monday night I stayed in a hotel and it wouldn't connect to their hotspot either, even though it could see it (same as what happens @ home).

I've tried a couple battery pulls on the Bold, factory default settings & reboots of the router... and of course several different wireless configs on the router.

I guess right now I'm just waiting for RIM to address the issue because I know I'm not alone.

my wifi works now. i thought i would update this in case someone Googled for a similar problem.

The Bold doesn't pick up my home wifi unless my router is set to an open network. I had WEP enabled for security. I was also trying to assign a specific IP to the blackberry. Neither of these settings worked, the BB could see the network but couldn't get an IP assigned.

My neighbour was using my wireless connection when my network was open, as I noticed them in the DHCP client listing after my network had been open for a while. So an open network was not really an option for me. I doubt they were doing it on purpose, as my SSID was still "default" and the network was wide open.

What I ended up doing was leaving the network open but only allowing connections from specified MAC addresses. So now I have my home PC, my wife's laptop and our 2 blackberries on the network. No other MAC addresses are allowed.

Now when I walk in my house, my wifi icon lights up and everything works fine.

As long as you have Data Services "On" and the network is open, you shouldn't have any problems. Hope this helps someone out there.
