So managed on to a 03 lancer OZ rally for a silly price $350. PO thought the timing belt had snappped. this is its rebuild thread all in one place the car is now done and only took me 3 days im kinda excited!
on tow truck back to my shop.

Off the truck and into the shop this how i got the car non running and looking like crap

First start the engine pulled apart the timing cover to find all the teeth on cam in place and good and some tension on the belt so it had not snapped.

on the crank side the teeth had stripped off. being and interferen

a 20 credit at autozone and a new timing belt was $9.99 i took a chance on the valves not being bent retimed the engine and spun it over and was no binding. so i went ahead and tried to start it. went a little like this http://youtu.be/lIYydDeBDTQ
I there was a nasty exhaust leak i wasnt aware of it before so i welded it back together sadly i was under the car i just didnt take any pictures but ugly welds and stock exhaust not much to see.

not that the mechanical seemed to be sorted out onward to the Faded and pink car and damage. i did a test spot to make sure it would buff back to proper color. see if i could save it instead of doing a full paintjob. thankfully it came back to full luster

Now that the body could be saved the front and rear bumper had been done by a parking lot body man the color was way to dark and was peeling off everywere for the car to look its best i needed to repaint them. in primer

Odd for a cheap car it as a dealer installed option of factory leather seating. kinda a nice touch and comfy.

For now the car is just being driven before i go ahead and sell it. wanna make sure its a solid car for the next person! ill take some good outside shots car looks good outside! but for a total investment of 499.99 i think i did pretty awesome. and the quickest turn around ive ever had on one of these! im happy!

nice turn around, but you couldn't pull the bumpers to paint them. only a half step up on the "parking lot" job because you did it indoors???

cheap car more effort then its worth to pull the bumpers and in New England its almost a certain to break hardware. and honestly i could put more money then the car is worth making it back to showroom quality. and on a 2500 dollar car....eh not interested.

Do you have a reason why there is tremendous amounts of rust on the engine? Could it be that this car has some, minor water damage?

Wow... pretty safe to say that you got a bit lucky with that one! I'm guessing that you won't be telling the previous owner how easy of a fix it was. :p

The before/after is just nutty

Great job! Those seats look to be in surprisingly good condition give the car's age and neglect factor. 3K net profit on your $500 investment - pretty good deal!

Far left. ill make a build thread for its refresh this year :D

One of these differs from the other two... Is missing something...

Three letter word starts with p and ends in i ...

How much boost you running? "Uh...-19?"

Its too bad we don't have a smiley poking with a stick smiley.
