I knew it was a matter of time before they pushed the sales to thursday. In a few years, they'll be opening up at 4 am, Thanksgiving day in an effort to outdo each other. Quite ridiculous, if you ask me.
I remember Black Friday 10 years ago used to be fun. My mom and I woke up at 4-5am (because virtually all stores opened between 5-7am), and was able to get in line and get what we wanted. Back then, lines didn't wrap around the store, and you sure as hell didn't need to camp out 24 hours in front of the store to reserve your spot in line. Back then, it was just a busier than normal shopping day.
But yea, because of the staggered start times of stores, you could easily get what you want, and jump to the next store.
Nowadays, it's not worth the hassle. You want any of the doorbusters? You better be in line and camp out for 10 hours or more. Sorry, my time is worth more than that for saving a few dollars on an item. Gone are the days where you can get big ticket items at more than one store because EVERYONE starts at the same time.
I just hate what Black Friday has become. I seriously wish one of these retailers would come to their senses next year and just open at a reasonable time (like 6 am). But it won't happen. It's hard for me to care anymore though, since I'll be working that thursday anyway.
