Black Thumbnails! (video)

I'm plagued by black thumbnails - and I don't mean I've got fungus!

I've got black video thumbnails in Windows XP, and it really renders
the feature useless because all it amounts to is an oversized
black icon. Can I change wich frame windows uses to generate the
thumbnail?

EDIT: Seems I mistook the implication of "video", so for the
sake of being on topic, what is the general consensus of the ATI
Radeon 7200 Mobile? and how can I get rid of black thumbnails!?

What's (on) your desktop, a regular jpg wallpaper? What color depth are you running? What drivers?

If your videos all start with a black screen, I'm not sure how to help you other than to suggest cutting out the beginning black portion using virtualdub or something similar.
