Ok people I am running a 2407 & a 7950GT 512. Most of what I see on the monitor looks great but "BLACK TEXT" looks like CACA! I can see red and green in it. Is this something to do with the display or drivers maybe? HELP!

I am running Vista with the latest display drivers from Nvidia's website. 10.65 or whatever is posted.

I would appreciate any advice or comments.

Try enabling or disabling ClearType and tell us what happens.

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize.
  • Click on Window Color and Appearance.
  • Click on Open classic appearance properties for more color options.
  • Click on Effects
  • Change the font smoothing method.
  • Hit OK twice.

Cleartype is on but I can still see red and green in my black text... THIS REALLY Sucks! Can it be my videocard? Drivers or that my monitor needs to be calibrated. Not very happy at the moment... I swear, I feel like I have a X-MAS theme on my fonts... UGH!

As the previous poster said, turn ClearType off, then leave it off or re-calibrate it. There's different settings that adjust how the RGB sub-pixels are shifted and they will be different from one monitor to another and user to user.

Its web-based. Go to microsoft's site and search for ClearType. Then walk through the calibration settings to adjust how the sub-pixels are aliased (or anti-aliased idk).
